FAQs

  • UR4Africa Project, Inc., founded in 2013, is a pan-African space that creates a pathway for the global African diaspora to collaborate with African people to uplift Africa.

    As a registered 501c(3) organization, it is our intention to curate intersectional opportunities for people interested in community building, skill-sharing, investment, and exchanging positive stories about the continent of Africa. 

    Today the organization is made up of board members and volunteers from the United States and Nigeria.

    These group works collectively to ensure UR4Africa Project, Inc. impacts communities in Nigeria and other parts of Africa throughout the year.

  • UR4Africa Project Inc. (formerly known as United Reels 4 Africa) was born in 2007 during the production of short film called Champion - in Lagos, Nigeria. During the production there were opportunities to skill share with community members, share stories, partner with Africa Independent Television, and collaborate on the film. The “UR4Africa spirit” was born from this initial project which was led by Shola Ajayi (one of the founders) and a group of graduate students from the US.

  • UR4Africa Project, Inc.’s mission is to use community development and hands-on-learning projects to serve as the cross-intersection between cultural exchanges, edutainment, and skill share opportunities. We believe that these initiatives will lead to healing, transforming, and strengthening relationships on the continent of Africa while empowering citizens through our various projects.

  • UR4Africa projects vary.

    They come in the form of:

    Donation drives (collecting clothes, art and school supplies, tech material (used phones, cameras, laptops, etc.)

    Community events such as Zoom meetings and networking opportunities

    Creating content PSAs and short films made in collaboration with community members

    Curated trips focusing on facilitating a space for unity, learning and understanding

    Sponsoring students and/or schools

    Hosting guests or events for our exchange program

    Public Art Africa (art program in government schools)

  • The Initiative for Public Art Africa is a youth-led program in Lagos, Nigeria. It is an initiative spearheaded by UR4Africa to allow professionals to work/mentor youths in public schools in Lagos. The focus is to expose students to different career paths, creative tools, mentorship, exhibition opportunities, and more.

    UR4Africa works to raise the funds necessary to ensure the Public Art Africa programs continue to run in at least three public schools every year. To facilitate this program in public schools monthly is $500.

  • The best way to get involved is to become a member and to get involved as a mentor. We have a profile with Workaway.info and Volunteer Match, which are platforms we use to recruit people interested in volunteering.
