  • UR4Africa Project, Inc. is a pan-African platform connecting people of African descent to Africa. We are a registered 501c(3) organization that curates travel for people interested in community building, skill-sharing, investment, and creating positive stories about the continent of Africa.

    Today the organization is made up of board members and volunteers from the United States and Nigeria.

    The group works together to ensure UR4Africa and Public Art Africa impact communities in Nigeria and other parts of Africa throughout the year.

    We create bridges that bring Africans and the African diaspora together in transformative ways. Through travel, project development, and learning exchanges.

  • UR4Africa Project Inc. (formerly known as United Reels 4 Africa) was born in 2007 during the production of short film called Champion - in Lagos, Nigeria. During the production there were opportunities to skillshare with community members, share stories, partner with Africa Independent Television, and collaborate on the film. The “UR4Africa spirit” was born from this initial project which was lead by Shola Ajayi (one of the founders) and a group of graduate students from the US.

  • UR4Africa projects vary.

    They come in the form of:

    Donation drives (collecting clothes, art and school supplies, tech material (used phones, cameras, laptops, etc.)

    Community events such as Zoom meetings and networking opportunities

    Creating content PSAs and short films made in collaboration with community members

    Curated trips focusing on facilitating a space for unity, learning and understanding

    Sponsoring students and/or schools

    Hosting guests or events for our exchange program

    Public Art Africa (art program in government schools)

  • The Initiative for Public Art Africa is a youth organization based in Lagos, Nigeria. It is an initiative spearheaded by UR4Africa to allow for professionals to work/mentor youths in public schools in Lagos. The focus is to expose students to different careers paths, creative tools, mentorship, exhibitions opportunities, and more.

    UR4Africa works to raise the funds necessary to ensure the Public Art Africa program continues to run in at least three public schools every year. To facilitate this program in public schools monthly is $500.

  • The best way to get involved is to become a member. Being a member of the organization allows you access to the commumity and networking event details, you will be able to access the UR4Africa podcast and hear from people on the ground in Lagos, there will also be information for people interested in traveling, skillsharing and/or collaborating.

    We also have a profile with Volunteer Match which is another platform for people interested in volunteering.

  • The UR4Africa shop is an opportunity for creative mentors and students to sell their artwork, poetry and books, hand crafted material, and UR4Africa merchandise. All items purchased go to the makers and 10% is given to the organization.

  • This is an opportunity to become part of this community, network with people in our community, and access our podcast, newsletter, and other resources.

    Coalition Members in the US volunteer a certain number of hours and enter into an opportunity to travel on one of our curated trips all expenses paid.
